If you know local veterans who were unable to attend the Lawrence Veterans Day Parade recently, please tell them it can be seen for free on YouTube.  The video captures every parade entry.  It starts with a benediction and military flyover above Massachusetts street.

As part of the event’s video production, local veteran Eric Walther was also interviewed to help promote the parade.  His war story and thoughts about the parade can be seen on Facebook.

The Lawrence Veterans Day Parade made a return in 2017 after a nearly 50-year hiatus.

“The resurrection of the Veterans Day Parade stemmed from a desire to honor Vietnam veterans who were not given a proper welcome home, or recognition for their service.  This was also an opportunity for community members to come together to thank and honor all veterans of the Douglas County area,” the parade’s website reads.

Parade director Michelle Mailand asked local video producer Matt DeSarle to cover this year’s parade so that veterans who were unable to attend could still watch it.  DeSarle, owner of Matty D. Media LLC, was happy to volunteer his video production service.

The parade is already accepting sponsors for the 2019 event.  There are five different sponsorship levels.  Visit http://www.lawrenceveteransday.org/sponsorship-levels/ for more information.
